The balance stays above the buffer the whole way.
These numbers never leave this page. Your browser does the calculation and forgets everything when you close it.
Many budget apps are good at sorting yesterday’s spending. Ebbe answers a different question: if everything continues as planned, what might your balance look like in a few months — and is there a difficult month hiding further ahead?
There is no bank account to connect and no transaction feed to reconcile. You decide which commitments belong in the forecast.
Start with today’s balance and choose the amount you would like to keep as a cushion. Ebbe shows how your balance may change and marks the months that fall below it.

Salary each month, insurance once a year, a bill every three months: add each item when it really occurs. Start and end dates, custom month patterns and yearly increases are there when you need them.
In the manual: Recurring items

A holiday, winter tyres or a new laptop can be added as one expense or split into instalments. Equal payments are calculated to the cent; different amounts can be entered one by one.
In the manual: One-off items

Categories show where your money goes; tags connect costs that belong to the same plan. Tag the flight, apartment and travel insurance as one holiday and Ebbe shows the full amount in one place.
In the manual: Categories and tags

Ebbe turns recurring costs into comparable monthly amounts. A €600 yearly premium becomes €50 a month, and estimates stay clearly marked as estimates.

Download your complete budget whenever you like — readable JSON that needs nothing but a text editor to open — and import it again here. You can also export everything stored about your account. If you delete the account, its budget, history, sessions and settings are deleted with it.
Ebbe is hosted, developed and operated in Germany. Personal data is handled in line with the GDPR and is not transferred to third countries.
Ebbe has no plans, premium features or paywalls. It is funded by voluntary contributions from people who find it useful, so every feature can stay free for everyone.
Your numbers are not a product. This website loads nothing from third parties and sets no cookies, so there is no cookie banner. At most it counts which page was opened, on a server of its own and without recognising you beyond the day. The app only uses the session cookie that keeps you signed in.
If you enjoy connecting your own tools, Ebbe has a documented OpenAPI interface for the whole budget. It supports personal access tokens as well as OAuth 2.1 with PKCE.
Read the API documentationConnect Ebbe to AI assistants and LLM tools such as Claude and ChatGPT through the Model Context Protocol (MCP). Then talk to your budget in natural language: ask about your forecast, or have your assistant add and update income and expenses.
Ebbe can be operated entirely from the keyboard, and a skip link at the top of every page jumps past the navigation. Text can be made larger without anything breaking, and if your system asks for reduced motion, Ebbe stops animating. The charts carry their figures as a table, so nothing is hidden behind a mouse-over.
What works, and what does not yetYour password is never stored in plain text. Ebbe stores a securely derived check value, and the identifier that keeps you signed in is hashed as well. Sign-in attempts are handled consistently for unknown addresses and wrong passwords, so the form does not reveal who has an account.
Ebbe runs in your browser on a phone, tablet, or computer. There is nothing to install, and every feature remains available on smaller screens. Add an expense while you are out or check whether the month has room for it.

I built Ebbe because I wanted a simple way to look ahead without handing my bank data to another service. I develop and run it in my spare time.
There is no company or investor behind Ebbe. I pay for the server, the domain and the time I put into it myself.
Ebbe is free for everyone and I want to keep it that way. If it makes your planning a little easier, you can help with the running costs — only if it feels right for you.
